This Development Kit is classified as a Research Device, intended for research purposes only. It is not a medical device and not suitable for any diagnostic purposes. Its sole intended purpose is the measurement and evaluation of EEG data, measured in the external auditory canal. Do not use it for any other purpose. Do not use while charging or connected to an electrical outlet. Keep away from children – swallow hazard! Do not use if damaged. Stop using if skin irritation occurs. Only use suggested charging equipment, avoid exposure to elevated temperatures. Store in dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.

Warning

The following Warnings highlight operating procedures which could result in severe personal injury if not correctly followed.

  • The IDUN Guardian is not indicated for real-time monitoring of electroencephalogram (EEG) activity during resuscitation or other medical procedures, and should be removed before any medical procedures are performed.
  • Do not use the device while it is being charged, as this can result in electrocution.
  • Do not modify equipment. Use only the recommended power supplies. Use of unapproved or incompatible power supplies may result in equipment damage, electrical shock, or overheating which could result in personal injury or property damage.
  • Keep away from children. An electrical shock can result if the power supply is put into a person’s mouth and the small components may be a choking or suffocation hazard.
  • To prevent property damage keep the device in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment.
  • Do not attempt to amend, reprocess, or otherwise edit the IDUN Guardian. Handling damaged components may result in electrical shock, fire hazards, and/or injury to the handler or others near the device.
  • If the device malfunctions, the user should reach out to the IDUN Technologies support team at support@iduntechnologies.com.
  • The IDUN Guardian Earbuds must be cleaned with an alcohol wipe and dried before use by different users to ensure good hygiene. If the Earbuds are not properly cleaned the user may be exposed to health and safety risks.
  • Do not bring the IDUN Guardian Earbuds into the immediate proximity of active implanted devices (e.g., pacemakers, defibrillators. Interference between the IDUN Guardian and the implanted device could cause the implanted device to malfunction.
  • Do not use the IDUN Guardian if you have an allergy to silver.

Caution

The following Cautions highlight operating procedures which could result in minor or moderate personal injury or damage to the product if not correctly followed.

  • Keep out of reach from children and animals. Components can be damaged if dropped or pushed off of a surface.
  • Do not remove the internal rechargeable battery from the IDUN Brainbox, as this can be a safety risk.
  • Keep the device in its protective case when not in use. Do not transport the device outside of the protective case as this may result in damage to the equipment.
  • Avoid contact with liquids. Keep all liquids away from device components.
  • The device is not washing machine, dishwasher or tumble dryer proof. Please do not put any of the IDUN Guardian components into either of these appliances.
  • Read this entire manual before using the IDUN Guardian. Failure to do so could result in suboptimal system performance or injury.
  • Use care when operating device near an open flame, and do not allow device to remain directly over an open flame. Direct exposure to an open flame may cause the device to exceed safe temperature limits and may cause device malfunction.

Important

The following Important Points highlight operating procedures which are necessary for the device to function correctly.

  • The user must be above the age of 18.
  • A user with cognitive impairment (including the inability to follow simple instructions) should not use the equipment when another individual is not available to assist in the task.
  • Magnetic and electrical fields are capable of interfering with the IDUN Guardian. Make sure all external devices operated in the vicinity of the IDUN Guardian comply with the relevant electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements.
  • Do not use in the vicinity of flammable liquids or gases, including flammable anaesthetics.
  • Device cleaning and disinfection should only be done according to instructions.
  • Equipment needs to be set up and put into service in accordance with the information provided in the accompanying documents including this manual.
  • Handle the components with care and avoid dropping or otherwise rough handling of the components.
  • Avoid placing components in direct sunlight or proximity to intense heat including household heaters or open flames.
  • Do not use components which appear to be physically damaged, degraded, or contaminated.
